Mental Health First Aid
Already completed the MHFA Standard program within the past 3 years? Ready for your update? Then you are ready for a quick refresher. A 5-hour workshop delivered as a face to face workshop with a light lunch provided or as a zoom session.
This workshop allows current Standard MHFAiders to refresh their knowledge and skills and extend their accreditation for another 3-year period.
Refresher courses need to be completed no later than three years after an MHFAider's original course date (i.e. by the MHFAider accreditation expiry date).
MHFA TRAINING IS ASSOCIATED WITH:
Improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate mental health first aid skills & strategies.
Confidence in providing mental health first aid to a person experiencing a mental health problem.
Decrease stigmatising attitudes and build your mental health language and skills.
SUPPORT
Increases in the amount and type of support that you are able to provide to others.

What People said about this course
I feel more confident in responding to mental health problems that occur at school with students, parents, volunteers and staff.
As awareness of mental health increases its great to be able to do a course like this that dispels many myths and better equips us to be able to respond better.
This was one of the most interesting, engaging and informative courses I have ever completed.
What the course covers:
Updating your skills and knowledge that you learnt within the past 3 years. You will also receive an updated copy of the MHFA Handbook.
Learn about the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide mental health first aid in a crisis situation.
This is an educational course to learn how to start a Mental Health First Aid Conversation with others.
This is not a therapy or support group.
